Juniper Networks 10GBase-T: Network and Data Center Products
Although one of the relatively newer players in the 10GBase-T switch market, Juniper Networks is one of the more well-known and respected vendors of high performance network equipment. The EX Series and QFabric family of network switches offer some of the industry's best feature sets at some of the most attractive prices.
The EX Series Switches: Powering Data Centers Large and Small
Juniper's EX2500 Ethernet switches are designed to deliver unsurpassed standalone performance economically. They offer port density of 24 10GBase-T ports with front to back airflow, with a total data rate of 480 Gbps.
The EX4200 isn't a true 10GBase-T Ethernet switch, but when configured as a Virtual Chassis, it can have up to 20 10GBase-T Ethernet ports available. It features internal redundant power supplies that are hot-swappable, with a fan tray that is replaceable in the field with three cools fans.
Juniper's EX4500 line of delivers scalable, high-performance 10GBase-T Ethernet platforms that are compact, supporting high-density 10GBit deployments. Both the EX4500 and EX4550 offer up to 48 total 10GBase-T ports (with optional uplink modules) and deliver data rates of 960 Gbps full duplex.
The EX8200 line is a line of Ethernet switches in modular form factors. They're designed for highly-available mission critical networks in the data center and core networks. The EX8200 offers up to 40 10GBase-T per (Oversubscribed) line card, the EX8208 320, and the EX8216 640 (per Oversubscribed chassis). For power availability, they all offer six redundant power supplies in internal bays that are hot-swappable, as well as field-replaceable fan trays.
The QFabric Family: Delivering Data Center and Cloud Computing
Juniper's QFabric QFX3500 switch is a high-performance, low-latency switching solution for small- to mid-sized data centers and networks. They offer 63 10GBase-T Ethernet ports, along with several QSFP+ fiber ports. For availability/reliability, they come with dual hot-swappable AC/DC power supplies, plus Juniper's standard hot-swappable fan trays.
The QFX3600 offers both 10GBase-T and 40GbE Ethernet port capability in a high-performance, low-latency product. The QFX3600 offers 10 10GBase-T ports (up to 64 using QSFP+ to SFP+ direct attach copper or QSFP+ to SFP+ fiber splitter cables and optics). Again high reliability is achieved using both redundant power supplies and fans.
Juniper Networks is deservedly proud of the high-performance family of 10GBase-T Ethernet switching products. With prices dropping, now might be the ideal time to get them into your data center.
